2022 - 2023
SAMPLE participated in the alternative education program of LearnSTEAM during the 2022 -2023 school year. LearnSTEAM trains formally disengaged youth (dropout/pushout) in soft skills necessary for success in the skilled trades. Each student studies toward earning a GED and pursues productive activities in a collaborative MakerSpace.
Background:
Attendance history: multiple ten day drops in grades 9, 10. Pattern of running away from school. Extra Curricular history: No sports. Student was introduced to the piano last summer while in residential treatment.

Behaviors: Student has friendships in LearnSTEAM and tutors classmates in piano and academic subjects. Student has not decreased substance use.
Required trainings completed:
Goals: Student would like to increase skills in song composition, piano, guitar, and construction.

Behaviors: Student continues friendships in LearnSTEAM and tutors classmates in piano and academic subjects. Student has not decreased substance use. Student reports a decrease of video game playing.

Transition to Post Secondary:
Student expects to complete graduation ceremony in June, 2023 with a GED. Student has completed FAFSA and plans to apply for Oregon Promise. Student desires to enter construction industry and is exploring options. Currently, student is on a paid work crew through Klamath Works.
